DANUBEPARKS is now an observer partner of the ICPDR

DANUBEPARKS recently became observer to the ICPDR, which is the next logical step in a close and long-lasting cooperation.

The ICPDR (The International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River) is a transnational body, which has been established to implement the Danube River Protection Convention. It works to ensure sustainable and equitable use of waters and freshwater resources in the Danube River Basin.

ICPDR has supported the Danube River Network of Protected Areas from the beginning as an official observer partner in the ETC-SEE project. Phil Weller, ICPDR Secretary General, has participated in several events of the Network, such as Kick-Off Conference, Steering Committee Meeting or Ranger Training.

Constant coordination among the two organizations – regarding communication activities, nature protection issues, and project development – is vital and well working.

DANUBEPARKS sees it as a great opportunity to now be officially an observer of the ICPDR; for sure this will even more tighten relations between the organizations.
