Specialized route:(red color on the map): In the focus of that route is the wetland restoration, inland marshes and bird watching of many rare, threatened and endangered species of birds. This route leads on Persin Island. Persin is the biggest Bulgarian Danube Island which is a component of Belene Islands Complex (the biggest Ramsar site in Bulgaria). Here on the island from 2002 to 2008 was implemented the World Bank’s “Wetland restoration and pollution reduction project” and was restored the first wetland in the Bulgarian river valley of the Danube.
