From the river's source in Germany down to the Black
Sea it is about 3,000 kilometers. On it's way, the Danube crosses half of
Europe. CYCLING THE DANUBE invites stakeholders and interested participants
from the public to bike the Danube Corridor on the dykes and to visit protected
areas along the Danube.
A trip to the natural
treasures along the Danube
The Danube-wide flood prevention dyke here evolves
from its origin as flood prevention infrastructure to Green Infrastructure,
linking valuable protected areas along the Danube. The flood prevention dyke
along the Danube presents a "corridor" not exclusively for animals
and plants, but also for people while more and more tourists use the Danube
cycling path for cycling and recreation.
We would like to inspire more people to cycle along
the Danube cycle path. The cycle path provides excellent conditions for all
kinds of cycling, from leisurely paced cycling to even road cycling. The Danube
cycle path is the perfect place for cycling holidays. Along the Danube route you can cross
almost 3.000 kilometers while visiting 10 Danube countries and 17 breathtaking protected areas
along the Danube.
The Danube cycle path is waiting for you!
