On December 7th, 2024, DANUBEPARKS and other local partners in Croatia organized another successful volunteer cleanup action which took place in the alluvial forest on the left bank of the Drava River near Podravlje.
The event brought together 25 dedicated volunteers who removed 10 cubic meters of waste from the edge of the Protected Area.
This initiative, organized by DANUBEPARKS, Ospera Association, and ROOTS Center also marked the beginning of a collaborative effort for the complete restoration of this unique natural site. Key partners, including the Osijek-Baranja County Nature Protection Authority and Hrvatske Ĺ ume, have committed to follow-up actions. Plans are underway not only to fully remove waste from the site but also to restore the water surfaces that once enriched this area.
Special thanks to the City of Osijek and Unikom for their logistical support, which played a crucial role in making this action a success.
This cleanup demonstrates the power of collaboration and community in safeguarding our shared natural heritage of Mura-Drava Regional Park.
