DANUBEPARKS at the International Danube Festival in Ulm

On the 9th and 10th of July 2024, DANUBEPARKS proudly represented our network under the thematic tent at the International Danube Festival in Ulm.

Every two years, the Danube Office Ulm/Neu-Ulm is organising this Festival where for ten days on both sides of the Danube Bank where international stakeholders from all along the Danube and guests come together. The international cultural programme offers a sophisticated mix of different artistic genres - whether music, dance, literature, or exhibitions, the Danube countries present themselves with their cultural ambassadors.

The International Danube Festival is a showcase for the international Danube partnership and cultural encounters. The focus is on unity in diversity, the idea of cultural cooperation in Europe and the strengthening of cohesion in the Danube region.

Under the thematic tent, DANUBEPARKS engaged with the festival's visitors by presenting our previous and ongoing projects and initiatives.

One of the highlights of our presentation was an engaging game that featured an interactive map of the Danube River - the most international river in the world - where visitors participated enthusiastically in geography learning by connecting countries and flags with their territories. The proud winners were awarded with DANUBEPARKS' publications, including "Nature's Havens on the Danube," "Cycling the Danube," and the "DANUBEPARKS Cookbook."

As part of the Horizon Europe DANUBE4all project, our partners from IGB Berlin joined us to host a travel exhibition co-creation workshop. This interactive process allowed us to gather numerous innovative ideas from the festival visitors about the future travel exhibition.

We extend our thanks to everyone who visited our thematic tent and contributed with different insights and ideas which will help us to further develop our mission of promoting and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Danube River.
