LIFE Danube Free Sky - project meeting and Mavir conference

Within the LIFE Danube Free Sky project, one of the follow-up projects of DANUBEparksCONNECTED, three events were organised during the last week: Project Management Board Meeting, Advisory Workshop, and Conference. On the 17-18th of October 2023, the fourth Project Board Meeting took place in Gyöngyös, Hungary. During the meeting, the representatives of the project partners meet in person to discuss the project progress, results, and next steps that are planned to ensure the successful project implementation.

Representatives of the project beneficiaries from each project country introduced during their presentation the project status and results achieved in the respective country. On the 18th of October, the Advisory Board Workshop was conducted with external experts involved. Altogether 8 presentations were given at the workshop, with a focus on bird conservation on power lines, recent experiences, and recommendations. The participants were able to look at the different types of flight diverters or insulation materials for the pylons. We believe that such an exchange of knowledge was very beneficial for all involved parties.

On the 19th of October, our project partner from Hungary, transmission system operator MAVIR organized the 14th Bird Conservation Conference, with many interesting presentations from the bird conservation field. The first part was held in Hungarian with simultaneous translating into English language, and the second part included presentations in English, including the representatives of the LIFE Danube Free Sky partners from Austria, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. During the Advisory Board Meeting, as well as at the Conference networking with other LIFE projects has been established and/or enhanced. All presentations from the Conference can be found at this link: HERE

We thank all participants of the mentioned events for their involvement, participation, and fruitful discussions and look forward to our next meeting!
