New study trail in Beda-Karapancsa

The region of Béda-Karapancsa at the Duna-Drava National Park in Hungary includes habitats with some of the most outstanding natural values of the Hungarian Lower Danube valley.

As part of DANUBEPARKS activities, a new study trail was realized outside the village Kölked last month. Earlier there were some information boards but today there is a brand new trail with interesting information boards not just on the natural values of the region but the historical interests and the human activity of the floodlands also. The trail is easily accessible from the White Stork Museum. It leads along the edge of the strictly protected Nagy-rét meadow, right up to the Danube. Then it takes the visitor across one of Hungary’s largest floodplain pastures where it is possible to take a look at the extensively kept Hungarian grey cattle herd. With a bit of luck one can even encounter a drab coloured calf called locally „pirók”.
