Travelling Exhibition on Gornje Podunavlje Opens in Novi Sad

DANUBEPARKS is pleased to share that Public Enterprise “Vojvodinašume”, Petrovaradin, as the implementing organization, has set up a travelling exhibition marking the 25th anniversary of the formal protection of the Special Nature Reserve “Gornje Podunavlje”. The exhibition presents the natural values and significance of this protected area through 12 thematic panels.

The exhibition is currently on display at the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation in Novi Sad, where it is open to the public. It was also presented as part of the Institute’s 60th anniversary celebration, an event that gathered more than 100 participants, including representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, the Provincial Government of AP Vojvodina, protected area managers, as well as members of the professional and scientific community.

Through photography, it introduces visitors to the importance of wetlands, biodiversity, and the role of protected areas in contemporary society.

It will remain at the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation until September 2026. During this period, in addition to the general public, it will also be visited by organized groups of children and young people, particularly primary school students. As the Institute has recently been granted the status of a natural history museum, an increase in visitor numbers is expected, further strengthening the educational and promotional impact. After this period, it is planned to continue its journey to the Special Nature Reserve “Gornje Podunavlje”, where it will be presented as part of the central anniversary events in Apatin or Sombor.

This initiative was made possible through the support of the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme, within the framework of the “Restoring Europe’s Amazon” project implemented by WWF-Adria, and is further supported by the Danube WILDisland Regional Ramsar Initiative through a Subgrant for practical pilot measures, Category RRI-2: “Awareness-raising events for the Danube WILDisland RRI”, funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), Germany.

We warmly invite everyone who has the opportunity to visit the exhibition in Novi Sad and experience the story of Gornje Podunavlje firsthand.
