After our first Product Club meeting in Kopački rit, in the framework of Transdanube.Travel.Stories project we continue to promote sustainable tourism with the innovative approach - by recognizing the valuable cultural and natural heritage of the Danube region.
On 2 July 2021, on the banks of the Danube river in Aljmaš, DANUBEPARKS has participated in the celebration of International Danube Day. This celebration was officially organized in the framework of Tour International Danubien (TID) regatte and the Green Trail of the Danube and Drava project.
Together with the Croatian Institue for archeology and Legio VI Herculia (Order of the Guardian of the City of Zagreb), DANUBEPARKS presented the connection between the cultural and natural heritage of the Danube region.
While presenting our new tourist trail Returning to the Last Danube, we have connected it with the Roman heritage of the region by presenting ancient Roman gastronomy: Roman spiced wine – Conditum paradoxum and ancient sweet fritters - Globos.
Also, during this workshop, DANUBEPARKS has established cooperation with the Order of the Guardian of the City of Zagreb, an NGO that is promoting the living history concept. This concept incorporates historical tools and dresses into an interactive presentation. On this occasion, Legio VI Herculia (originally located near Dalj in Croatia) was presented, to give participants a sense of stepping back in time.
This was a great way to discover more about the possibilities of innovative tourism stories and to announce upcoming project activities - like a cookbook that will present authentic recipes from our protected areas all along the Danube.
